Back in 2011, the Nike ACG Rufus ‘Limestone’ was the shoe that you wore when you wanted to go for a light hike and you didn’t want to deal with any annoying laces. Climbers (both amateur and advanced) absolutely loved the silhouette, so when the American sportswear company randomly announced that it was shelving the line, it was all a little bit sad.

However, with the gorpcore trend now more hyped than ever, Nike has jumped straight into its archives to bring the Rufus back. An almost one-to-one remake of the OG, the mule-like model is dressed in beige ‘Limestone’ suede. The ankle section is slightly padded for extra comfy points, and a Swoosh is debossed across the lateral sidewalls, just like the original pair from the days of yore.

Down below, the trainer sits on top of a ridiculously thiccc foam midsole, and it’s lined with a grippy rubber outsole for all of those steep hikes that you probably won’t be doing. More Swooshes feature on the front, and it’s finished off with “All Conditions Gear” printed along the insole (which is what ACG stands for, FYI).

Thanks to brands like Birkenstock, Crocs and more recently, Jordan Brand, the slip-on shoe game has completely exploded over the last couple of years. According to a recent report by Future Market Insights, the industry was valued at $151 million in 2022 and it’s expected to almost double in just 10 years. So, you can expect more silhouettes like the Rufus to come back veryvery soon.

The Nike ACG Rufus ‘Limestone’ is set to re-release at Nike, the Snkrs app, and select stockists on May 1 for about £90 a pop. It’s only taken 13 years to return, but better late than never, right?
